I’ll add my thanks. I’ve been in lurk mode for months now. Just feeling like I got nothin’ to say. I can find dozens of well crafted essays describing how bad it is, how we got here, and how much worse it’s going to get.

Most don’t even get near the overwhelming question: What am I to *DO* in the face of all this? This essay is one of the rare exceptions. It’s a true gem.

I’ve prayed on the question. The answer that I get is that we must fight the darkness where we meet it, and we meet it one on one with our friends and loved ones. I can’t stop the big things. They’re going to roll out whether I pay attention to them or not. To date, not one heated comment on the internet- even the one that got a zillion ‘likes’ has slowed down the process. I can’t let this crap eat me alive.

My wife and I are investing our effort and time into building and maintaining our network of friends. And yes, it does take an investment of effort, and time (not to mention a little money) We’re making our home the gathering place. And we are rewarded in our effort. More than once, we’ve had people take one of us aside, and tell how our get-togethers were the high point in an otherwise dismal season. I’m sixty eight years old. I don’t have all that much time left. Whatever plan God has for my life, I’ll wager it doesn’t involve spending that time  arguing politics on the internet.
