On properly using the law against the lawless:
The Governor has the authority under the Florida Constitution to suspend state officials for reasons of misfeasance, malfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties, or commission of a felony. The Governor has further authority to fill that office by appointment for the duration of the suspension.
After this post appeared, Ace did a much more thorough job than any other news source in providing details. I’ve added this for those readers who prefer words of analysis rather than a raw seven minute video presentation.
Inasmuch as a top executive in our polity has as his primary duty the execution of the laws, DeSantis did exactly as he should in suspending Warren. Were more governors as proactive as DeSantis has been, the nation would be in far better shape, rather than deteriorating into a collection of satrapies ruled de facto by various gangs.
I am so grateful for and proud of MY Governor, Ron Desantis. The man has steel balls and is actually doing his job! We moved to Florida just when the plandemic was getting into full swing – July 2020 and Florida has done it right.
The problem I see with this action is the spin media is putting on it. They make the Governor look like a dictator and wrong when he is actually doing his damn job. If more governors (yes small g) did their collective jobs there would be far less crime and perhaps, just perhaps the country would be on a better path.
Just keep handy that short blurb explaining the Florida governor’s authority. Screencap and crop it from this post. Then when someone parrots media assertions, read it and then ask “is it, in your opinion, good practice for a sworn elected official to simply blanketly declare he’s going to ignore any laws he personally doesn’t like?” It is so rare for media drinkers to hear something like that you might even have an impact. Good luck. We got to do all we can to see DeSantis gets a second term.
