Compare And Contrast

It seems that for many years, whenever an identifiable member of a Democrat mascot group was deemed the perpetrator of some heinous crime, Leftists would leap to their typewriters and microphones to proclaim that “Society is to blame! Oppression! Victimization! Deprivation! Marginalization!” and so forth. It was vital for Democrat control of those voting blocs that they never think their protectors might be asleep at the switch. The Left’s defense of mascot-group miscreants – especially Negro felons – was absolute.

Well, it appears that there may be a crack in that armor:

CNN left-wing flack Jim Acosta: I do want to ask you about the murder of this Maryland mother [Rachel Morin] that has been in the news. It’s gotten a lot of attention. She was killed last year, an undocumented immigrant was just arrested in her death last week. He’s suspected of multiple crimes since he crossed the border illegally in early 2023. Obviously, we know that studies show that undocumented immigrants don’t commit more crimes statistically than native-born U.S. citizens. But what do you say to critics who blame the administration for allowing something like this to happen? Obviously, this is something that you hear in right-wing media all the time.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas: Jim, first and foremost, of course, our hearts break for the children, the families, the loved ones, the friends of the individual who was murdered, the woman, the mother. Jim, a criminal is responsible for the criminal act. The criminal who committed this heinous act should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law, and forcefully so. That is my response.

So mascot-group members don’t outrank Democrat presidents, Democrat cabinet secretaries, and members of Democrat administrations, eh? Good to know. Also, please don’t overlook that Acosta took the opportunity to slip in a blatant lie: i.e., his claim that illegal immigrants (which he calls “undocumented”) don’t commit more crimes than U.S. citizens. “Studies show” is a red flag for anyone who’s been paying attention to the partisanization of “studies” and the groups that conduct them.

That’s CNN for you. That network has raised the defense of the indefensible to a high art, and Jim Acosta is its foremost artist. Now we await the next time some lunatic commits a mass shooting and Acosta and his buddies blame the National Rifle Association, the Gun Owners of America, Remington, Winchester, Smith and Wesson, Armalite, Colt, and the ghost of John Moses Browning.
