All The Left Cares About

…is the “right” to kill their babies:

When you have a platform, use it. That’s one thing both Kamala Harris and Julia Roberts understand.
This Wednesday (October 9), the Oscar-winning actor made a bold move in support of the Democratic presidential nominee and her running mate, Tim Walz. Julia attended a Cherokee County Reproductive Freedom Rally in Canton, Georgia, and got onstage to remind voters of what’s at stake in this year’s election—specifically, women’s reproductive freedom.
The actor was joined by the state’s Democratic Party leader, Stacey Abrams, as she made her impassioned speech.
While Cherokee County leans fiercely conservative, Julia, a Georgia native, pointed to the issues that another Donald Trump presidency could mean for women and families, especially as Georgia recently reinstated its strict ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy—a highly constraining move that would not have been possible had Trump not pushed for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and appointed three justices in service of that goal.

Actors and actresses are predominantly left-aligned. The worst of them are also rabid man-hating feminists. But note: they couch their proclamations in the language of freedom: “women’s reproductive freedom,” or alternately, “the right to choose.” That’s when they aren’t touting abortion right up to the instant of birth as a “safe medical procedure.”

Americans tend to respond favorably to assertions of freedom. Owing to the misuse and perversion of the word in recent decades, they’re less likely to grant immediate validity to a claim of “rights.” But a little reflection on the assertion of a “freedom” to kill is all it takes to dampen pro-abortionists’ parade of lies and half-truths.

There are many ways to prevent a pregnancy. There is one inescapable consequence to allowing an unwilling mother to “terminate” it. To counteract the revulsion decent persons feel at the idea of killing a defenseless infant, the Left calls it a freedom and yokes it to identity politics: specifically, female identity politics. It trots out (formerly) popular actresses to pander to predominantly female audiences. The question “how does this ‘freedom’ differ from other kinds?” is squelched or dismissed. The question “why should your opinion matter?” is never raised at all.

Still, there’s something to be said for the employment opportunities this offers to superannuated and out-of-work actresses. They need jobs as much as the rest of us.

By the way, if you’re planning to relocate to the United Kingdom, you might want to avoid Scotland:

Christian and pro-life groups are raising alarms over new abortion laws in Scotland, which could criminalize prayer even in private homes. The legislation, which took effect last month, establishes 200-meter (~656-feet) “safe access zones” around all abortion clinics, banning activities that supposedly “harass, alarm, or distress” abortionists and their patients—including silent prayer vigils.
Even people living within these zones now face the possibility of prosecution for actions people can see or hear from outside their homes. This means activities such as praying aloud or displaying religious symbols could potentially be treated as crimes.

So be careful about buying property in Scotland. At least if you’re religious.

One such tactic used by Democrats is the tearful pleas by women who are desperate to become pregnant via IVF, but far that trying to do so will get them thrown in jail because of abortion laws.

Maybe I don’t get it, but one act involves a women trying to get pregnant through medical intervention, while the other seeks to end an active pregnancy through a different form of medical intervention. One ends in a baby being born (hopefully), the other ends that baby’s life before it has that chance. Seems about as alike as mass murder and saving a busload of kids. But apparently Dems only have abortion as a platform. Almost every ad I see here in Arizona involves either killing those babies (instead of having to drive a few hours west where they will do it with neither legal mumbo nor jumbo) or lying about how Republicans will stop them from killing their babies on a whim. (And how Democrats have been secretly working against their own party to act tough on the border, of course.) ProTip: The Tenth Amendment is ALSO in that “Bill of Rights”.

“Vote for us! We’ll let you keep killing all the babies you want!” Hell of an ad campaign, donchathink?

Francis, I enjoy reading your blog, and I respect your viewpoints.  We align far more often than not.  I even agree with you on the moral nature of abortion (it’s murder), on the insanity of the single-issue abortion voters, and on the overall gruesome nature of many in this debate.

I find it ironic that Roe V. Wade was not overturned as a result of a lawsuit filed by anti-abortion groups, but instead by a lawsuit filed by pro-abortion groups and an abortion clinic in Mississippi.  Mississippi had a limit of 18 weeks on abortion, and for that clinic, that wasn’t enough, so they sued.  They got their asses handed to them at the Supreme Court, and now abortion is illegal in Mississippi.  While I enjoy the “you’ll get nothing and like it” schadenfreude, my thoughts on abortion are more nuanced.

I think it’s a necessary evil, and here’s why.  One article I read a few years ago said that “40 million black babies had been aborted” since Roe V. Wade.  The author’s tone was, “Oh, the horrors, the black community is hardest hit” cuckservatism.  My immediate thought was, “Good grief, then I’m thankful.”  Think about it, Francis.  Currently there are 41.6 million blacks in the United States.  Think about all the crime, poverty, and overall social decay they cause.

    Now double it.

Would you want to live in a country that had 40 million more blacks in it?  I’m pretty thankful for those abortions.

Also, overturning Roe V. Wade has absolutely energized the cat ladies.  And make no mistake, that’s another hill that the good guys have to climb.

I get it.  Abortion is morally awful.  I’m with you.  But in terms of the issues facing our country, it’s not even in my top ten.  And I wish to hell that overturning Roe V. Wade hadn’t been the only major lasting accomplishment of the Trump administration.
