With all due respect for the American military, there’s been a lot going on in that institution that’s more than a little upsetting. At one time it could be relied upon to act in defense of the Constitution and the rights it enshrines. Today, the matter admits of some doubt.
Here’s Lee Smith’s speculation on an upsetting possibility:
Democratic Party research and media reports show that many senior party officials and operatives are preparing for the possibility of a Trump victory. Accordingly, planning is focused on undermining the incoming president with enough violence to rock his administration. Prominent post-election scenarios forecast such widespread rioting that the newly elected president would be compelled to invoke the Insurrection Act. With some senior military officials refusing to follow Trump’s orders, according to the scenarios, the U.S. Armed Forces would split, leaving America on the edge of the abyss.
By vilifying Trump as a despotic madman who must be stopped before he can commence his reign of terror, the regime’s propaganda apparatus not only slanders Trump but also pre-emptively threatens the reputation, as well as the livelihood and perhaps the liberty, of current military personnel. The point is to push the military against Trump: When the time comes to act, will you stand for democracy or side with a tyrant who sees the military only as an instrument to advance his personal interests?
I can think of few things more horrifying than to have the American military fighting against itself. If the division of allegiance at the command level mirrors the division of opinion among Americans generally, and the Biden regime should call for the armed forces to “oppose the mad fascist dictator Trump,” a great deal of blood would be shed. A lot of it would be civilian.
Upon further reflection, it might not be necessary for the Biden-Harris regime to order the military to prevent the transfer of power. If the passions among American commanders are sufficiently strong, they might decide to act without orders, entirely on their own initiative. Under that premise, their first targets would be those commanders who differ with them: about Trump, about the “threat” he poses, or about their obligations to the Constitution.
For my money, the most frightening apocalyptic scenarios are the banal ones, the workaday ones. The ones that arise from mundane possibilities and actualities. This is one such. It doesn’t have the eerie glamor of a nuclear war, nor the seeming finality of an incoming comet. But it would be fatal to the country nonetheless. And there’s no way to prepare for it.
A good thing it’s just a Hallowe’en nightmare, isn’t it?

Despite the BHO purges of the general officer ranks and imposing like minded generals, I do not think the military will be a player in this situation. The big reason I think such is history proves that once you release the dogs of war they will eat both sides. The next reason is that the career folks may obey for their retirement pensions but the guys who do the fighting are mostly not career orientated. They will be the ones whom peer pressure from relatives and friends back home will be the influence. The last reason is simple logistics. Bases cannot function without it and many military personnel live in the communities surrounding their bases. Would you leave your family in the community to do harm to the American people and expect to return home to an intact family livening in a sea of hostiles? Let us not forget the National Guard controlled by the state governors. They are our neighbors. They would definitely have the most to loose should they take up arms against their communities.
The best case scenario for the Left is that they control the capital and a few large cities. Two million in uniform will not control the worlds third largest population. If our military had problems in Afghanistan, just think what kind of problems they would have in rural America.
The Tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and of tyrants.
