Can be summed up by one quote from one of America’s greatest philosophers: Robert A Heinlein.
“Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.”
I count myself in the latter, and proud of it. Tomorrow we’ll see who manages to succeed. And I think Heinlein was being far too kind to the former. But then, he wasn’t dealing with the modern Democrat party.

The problem with all politics is it attracts the sort of people a rational political system would protect us against.
Say it loud, Ginger. Frank Herbert wrote that power doesn’t just corrupt; power attracts the corruptible. And it is most definitely, verifiably so.
Can’t remember the rat-faced senator saying “I know things about the Russian’s and Trump and can confirm they are true and will release details later”. I’m still waiting and the other who was sthuping Fang Fang are just evil but for me Nancy Peelosi sit atop a myriad of underhand, evil, treasonous actions and has done more harm than rat-face,old Mitch and all the rest in bringing America almost to our breaking point.
Anyone know how many tall lampposts there are in D.C.?
Of course we bear witness that Heinlein never inserted a skeptical or facetious bone in all his body of work.
Well said, Ginger and Dave. Annon, I think it was Schiff who said that.
