The DEIhard Canard

Anyone with three or more functioning brain cells was aware from the first that the “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) schtick was an ill-disguised scheme for discrimination on the basis of race, sex, and mental illness. It extended the pseudo-logic of “affirmative action” (i.e., quota enforcement) to include a few more “marginalized communities” (i.e., homosexuals, perverts, and the seriously deluded), while simultaneously displacing the goal of equal opportunity with a goal of equal outcomes. The general public, weary from the battering the DEIhards have given us normal people, have reared up on our hind legs and trumpeted that there must be a stop to it. President Trump, God bless him, is in agreement. He’s announced his intention to drive DEI and all its excrescences out of government, and he’s already set forth to do so.

So of course, the Left and its political wing, the Democrat Party, are going apeshit over it. Via Mike Hendrix, we have this:

Trump’s decision has been met with the usual howls from the civil rights community. NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson wrote in a statement:
“It is outrageous that the President is rolling back critical Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. DEI programs help ensure that everyone can prosper. It’s clear that President Trump does not value equal opportunity.
“His appalling executive order will only worsen America’s racial hierarchy and benefit the oligarch class. This executive order threatens public services that benefit all Americans; it’s an attempt to consolidate power and money to a few wealthy individuals. And poor and working-class people will pay the price.”
Johnson has the insidious and divisive nature of DEI exactly backward. DEI has no impact on the oligarch class. Elon Musk doesn’t have to worry about whether he is being fairly considered for a job or a contract because of his race. Poor and working-class white people bear the costs of DEI — and it is that cost of quotas, set-asides and minority-only programs and spaces that divide the working class into racial blocs.
And Johnson’s complaints would have been just as apoplectic if Trump’s order were more measured and included all the nuance reasonable people would want. Because the civil rights-industrial complex doesn’t do nuance either, no amount of moderation and good intentions protects a Republican from accusations of the -isms and -obias.
The LGBTQ advocacy group the Human Rights Campaign released a statement saying: “Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect in all areas of their lives. No one should be subjected to ongoing discrimination, harassment and humiliation where they work, go to school, or access healthcare.”

What else would you have expected? The DEI canard is a meal ticket for thousands who would find no gainful employment without it. Billions of dollars in government spending have been redirected by DEI programs. Universities have erected DEI-centric programs and hired activists to run and teach in them. And of course, employment practices have been distorted by the push for DEI.

“Follow the money” is excellent advice when tracing the lineaments of an aggressive activism fad such as DEI. Where the money goes will indicate precisely what the activists really want and intend. Where the money comes from? That’s just us normal Americans who don’t whine about “systemic racism,” “homophobia,” or “gender identity.”

It’s dying, thankfully. It might take a while to be fully expunged, but it’s definitely ready for the last rites. Normal Americans have mobilized behind a champion fighter. That champion knows what he must do, and he’s doing it.

There will be blowback, of course. Anti-DEI figures will be relentlessly vilified in the legacy media. Public officials will be hounded by DEI activists. I also expect an upsurge in judicial activity over the anti-DEI efforts: lawsuits, damage claims, injunctions, et cetera.

None of that will matter a dented copper groat. Once the great majority of Americans have mobilized on some issue, they will have their way. It’s fairly rare, as tightly focused, militant special interests tend to outmaneuver us. Large numbers of normals must feel personally abused – discriminated against, mulcted, slandered, or silenced – to rally en masse as we have in this instance.

It’s a reason to greet the dawn with a smile. However, it’s a war that won’t be won in a single skirmish. The militants are tactically canny and highly motivated. They may possess more staying power than we’re aware. Stay tuned.

So, will the DOJ now investigate the perverts and unnamed conspirators who put on drag shows for children?  It was or should have been illegal so prosecutions are not off the table.
