Fran’s foresight with Polymath and Statesman
Readers of these two novels may have casually noticed how the alliance between genius Todd Iverson and politician Stephen Sumner, the protagonists of the 4th and 5th Realm of Essences series, parallels what’s developed between Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
But there’s a catch.
The personal character traits of those fictional men differs so greatly from the living souls that it is understandable that the contrast may prevent us from praising Fran from having identified what this country needed over ten years ago. That discrepancy may even prevent Fran from wanting to exploit how prescient he was in identifying how much we needed such a rare friendship. Why sully his Sumner and Iverson creations by the comparison?
However, In this troubled world, must heroic figures needed for addressing the chaotic mess built up over time — where the implicit understanding how entropy (so inevitable) requires drastic reshufflings — be as perfect in every way as is possible in a fictional world?
Let me put it this way. We fans of Francis W Porretto’s writings ought to tout these two novels because they lend this world a significant level of apologetics that might provide a bit more latitude to Donald Trump’s efforts.
The following NPR interview of critics, after the negotiations in the oval office, demonstrates how much Deep Staters try to turn every positive event into a negative one.
Here are two hacks, one from WaPo, the other from NYTimes. The first to speak, a Dem, the second a RINO, disgustingly blamed Trump for Zelenskyy’s intransigent misbehavior (playing to the press cameras) in the oval office. And from there, the talking points were laid out for all Trump haters. Very effective propaganda.
But the number of characters created for attacking fictional President Sumner were far fewer — out of necessity in a novel — than we witness in this real world. Here a less than perfect man — as are we all — has to find near miraculous endurance and clear-headedness to stay the course.
We need to sympathize and simply forgive the personal traits we may avoid for ourselves. We can do what we can to dissuade those we know who repeat the words of the detractors whose sole purpose is to keep the positions of power and pelf they no longer deserve, if they ever did.
Donald Trump must wage offensives. What we are witnessing is not the modest, defensive efforts of the GOP, typical of the old guard, afraid to offend anyone but principled conservatives. If we want our principles to finally be put back into practice, we have to fight for them. President Trump sure seems to be doing so, and fighting on many more fronts than did President Sumner.
I know a critic who might be persuaded to provide the sort of review that could finally propel Fran’s novels to a wider reading audience.
Look, I remain skeptical of Donald Trump, a good deal because his personal traits are those I myself avoid. But I recognize that he seems to be fighting for what I’d like to see done. So I may easily have missed something and need others who may be more forgiving to help out.
What additional thoughts might be included that might help bring about what we like to achieve for Fran and, hopefully, help our cause through Trump?

In a negotiation, be it political or business, Trump did exactly what he should have done. Assuming that the Dems don’t make a massive effort to appease Zelenskyy which would make him double down on his unwillingness to negotiate, his only choice is to come back to the table with hat in hand. Then a real negotiation could take place. So watch as either the Dems sabotage Trump or Zelenskyy comes back to the table.
The Democrats would require cooperation from the Congressional RINO brigade. That having been said, it’s entirely too credible for comfort.

The good news on that caveat is that Lindsay Graham condemned Zelenski’s behavior. Of course the other RINOs have not yet been heard from.
And, with Lindsey, talk is cheap. And generally not backed up by action.

True Linda.
I had let pass the thought “That’s a lot of cackling Lindsey. When have you laid any useful eggs?”
