Did Trump Have This In Mind?

     Consider well:

[T]here will likely be a renewed push for the formation of a new European military alliance: One that’s of Europe, for Europe, and specifically excludes the United States. And that’s both good and bad.

I don’t see the downside to which commentator Scott Pinsker alludes. While it’s true that Twentieth Century military alliances in Europe helped to shape the World Wars, those were alliances of a few European nations against a few others. An all-Europe alliance would not have the tension-inducing effects of the Triple Entente and Triple Alliance of the early 1900s. Nor are the potentates of today’s Europe much like Conrad von Hotzendorff or Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that that alliance could turn against America, but… well… excuse me while I have a fit of hysterical laughter.

Also, Pinsker’s occupation is public relations. Thus, he’s likely to put more significance on what prominent people and media are saying than do I. But either of us could be wrong.

Whatever the case, a new European alliance that excludes America would be a great blessing for us, especially for our armed forces. Think of it! No more European deployments. No more funding the defense of Europe, which since World War II has been a substantial fraction of American military outlays. No more arguments with European governments over where and whether to position tactical nuclear weapons, or over who shall have the authority to use them. And no more concern about how to distribute our forces among the moribund nations of the Old World.

Put me down as supporting this change. Have at it, Europe!

Yes, by all means, let’s have a “European Defense Force.”  At this point, none of the soi disant “Europeans” have enough manpower, materiel or money to actually create such an animal. The Brits have more admirals than warships.  The Germans have vaunted tanks that won’t run, no air force to speak of and few actual warfighters and the French…?  Is there still a Foreign Legion?  Let’s send them to Ukraine!  I can’t wait to see how things go when the Euroweasels start funding their own defense instead of relying on Uncle Sugar for that chunk of their national GDP.  Does anyone think the islamic invaders currently esconced in all of these countries are going to take it lying down when their welfare benefits are reduced or eliminated?  That’s when, should this fantasy actually be implemented, the proverbial shite will hit the fan.  I, for one, can’t wait!  Let the games begin.
