Announcement

I’m going to be away from Liberty’s Torch for a while…possibly a very long while. Recent events have persuaded me that for the present, there’s no point to my writing for the Web. A man of my age shouldn’t spend his time and energy shouting into the wind. So I’m going to take a break and look for one.

Perhaps Linda, Dave, the Colonel, and the rest will keep our Gentle Readers amused. Readers with questions about site activities and policies should address them to Linda, my Co-Administrator. Meanwhile, enjoy the continuing decline and fall of the United States of America. It’s best viewed from a safe distance. I’m currently considering Tristan da Cunha.

     Regards,
     Fran

I understand. It can feel like you’re in a boxing match with The Blob.

I used to keep up with the Tristan Facebarf page. It’s the only thing I miss about that detestable forum. Strange, wonderful place.

Enjoy a hiatus. Take the car out, and drive too fast. Do what feeds you.

Wow! What a splash of cold water to wake a person up this Wednesday morn. I know, the closer to the fire the more you feel the heat. Stepping back to cool down is an option but dropping out is not. There is a fight ahead and folks like you are severely needed. Consider visiting a part of the country where our values have not changed to suite the times. It may reinvigorate you and provide you with the resolve to march on.

  1. Wow.  In one way, I understand exactly where you are coming from.  In another, selfish way, I will greatly miss your commentary and insight.

May God bless you and your family as you seek out and, with God’s help, find inner peace.

As MGuns says, get to a peaceful place.  Just a few days ago, I was hiking in a remote part of the Cascade Range in the Pacific Northwest, where we live.  It was a slightly foggy morning and I found myself in a quiet glen of huge, massive cedar, fir and hemlock trees.   As the fog drifted in their upper branches, high above the forest floor, I thought that whatever happens to me in the time God wills to keep me in this world, the power of Man to destroy will spare these forests; and, for the ages to come,  they will be patiently waiting to help our children to survive and prosper.

  2. Egad!

I feel like a newly commissioned ensign who reports to the ship, and is informed that ALL the commanding officers have left, putting me in charge.

I’ll TRY not to sink the ship. Any help I can get from my co-bloggers would be gratefully received.

Fortunately, I cleared the decks at home before I headed out of town, so there are no pressing items before me.

Take care, Fran, and check in occasionally, would you? You will be missed.

  3. You will be sorely missed, but I get it, you need to decompress, we’ve all been there. But please don’t give up, your wit and wisdom are greatly appreciated here.

  4. Step back, relax, enjoy your life with your family and community. We’ll be here if or when you decide to return.
