This Happened In A “Public” High School

First, a brief excursion into stupidity from a nominally intelligent person:

Don’t get me wrong: vigilantism in any form is wrong…

Show me the difference – moral or practical – between vigilantism and the State’s version of “justice.” What palm of morality goes with a badge or an office in a “public” building? As for the practical difference between them, both are sometimes valid and sometimes invalid. Historically, the vigilance committees of the Nineteenth Century had a pretty good record for accuracy, validity, and self-restraint. With all the recent no-knock raids at incorrect addresses, the shootings of innocent civilians, and no-bail releases of violent felons, State “justice” is sliding toward totally invalid pretty fast.

Now for the outrage of the morning. To the best of my knowledge, no one in authority has proffered even a shred of explanation:

This was raising money for philanthropy? For charity? Whose idea was it? Who approved it? And how much did he donate?

A “public” high school permitted this. Its officials might even have encouraged it. The parents of those school kids either already know about it or soon will. Where are the district’s police just now? Doing what?

If you don’t like the idea of vigilante justice, you’d better do something about the “public” kind P.D.Q.

Sometimes my state can be such an embarrassment.

That is beyond disgusting. Any school employee who participated or suggested or approved this should be – probably won’t – fired immediately.

Better they should be fired on – to prevent a reoccurrence.

    Who says vigilantism is wrong?

I agree, Luke. During the covid hysteria, I saw a news clip of a massive, obese cop who was wrestling a woman to the ground. Her “crime”? Her kids were going crazy, being cooped up for Lord knows how long, and she walked to a playground with the kids. I saw this footage of the completely out of control cop, and the poor woman’s kids screaming in horror, and I thought to myself,”if that happened un my presence, I would gladly go to jail after beating that cop within an inch of his life.”

Truthfully, 2020 very much changed my opinions about cops, and “authority” in general. I don’t think I am alone in this, and it all comes down to the fact that the SOBs pushed things to the point of absurdity. It was purely the exercising of authority “because we can.” Sorry boys. Not good enough.
